Harry Gaskell

Purpose and Sustainability Leader, EY UK and Ireland

Harry Gaskell is currently EY’s UK and Ireland Purpose and Sustainability Leader. He is responsible for ensuring EY’s clients get the advice they need to become more sustainable businesses. He is also responsible for ensuring EY itself is a leading sustainable business.

Gaskell is an experienced business leader with over 30 years’ experience of helping large UK and global organisations become more successful. He is a recognised inclusive leader and a frequent speaker on sustainability, disruptive technologies and their impact on business and society.

Gaskell has extensive experience of advising the leaders of large organisations on strategy, re-designing their businesses and of leading major change and transformation programmes. He has worked on four Reviews for government at the BEIS and the Medical Research Council. His other government clients have included Department of Health, HMRC and his private sector clients have included Axa Insurance, JP Morgan, Prudential, EdF Energy, National Grid and Boots Healthcare.

He was a member of EY’s UK&I Leadership Team, which sets the strategy and direction for the Firm for 12 years and EY’s Chief Innovation Officer and the Managing Partner of the UK&I Advisory business which he grew from zero to £250m.

Gaskell is also Chair of the Finance Committee of the University of the Arts and a member of the Court of Governors, a Trustee of Which? the UK’s consumer champion and member of the Board of Which Limited (the Charity’s commercial arm), and a Trustee of the STEM Skills Fund, a charity whose aim is to increase the number of girls studying STEM subjects at A-Level. Gaskell just stepped down after 9 years as the Chair of the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion (enei), the UK’s leading workplace inclusion organisation.

Harry is also an angel investor in several small startup companies (including sustainable clothing business Know the Origin).
